Power Point slides from Artifact 8
Artifact 8 is my final project from APLNG 412: Teaching Second Language Writing. In this assignment I chose to revise the course objectives and coursework from when I taught ESL 015 to incorporate what I learned in APLNG 412. Prior to this class, I was not sensitive to the social, cultural, political, or institutional factors which influence ESL writing. My eyes were opened to these complex issues which affect language teaching and learning thanks to this class; this paper reflects my new understanding and sensitivity to these issues.

Artifact 9 is a final project from APLNG 482: Intro. to Applied Linguistics. This paper explores the complex social roles of gender identity in various cultures and the language differences that result from these identities. I wanted to explore whether these differences were present in a highly formal environment, so I examined the 2008 debate between Sarah Palin and Joe Biden.

Artifact 10 is a response paper from APLNG 484: Discourse Functional Grammar. I read and responded to Simon Borg's article, "Self-Perception and Practice in Teaching Grammar." I chose this article because I am very interested in identity, self-perception, and self-confidence in how they relate to teaching and learning. This essay explores how these social factors, especially confidence, effect grammar teaching.
